Led Zeppelin’s ‘Houses of the Holy’ Turns 40

Today marks the 40th anniversary of Houses of the Holy, Led Zeppelin’s fifth studio project and first compilation of entirely original tunes.  The album was recorded at the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio on Mick Jagger’s estate.  Can you even imagine having been there?  I’ve had the album since I was 13 and it definitely had a role in shaping my love of Rock n Roll.  Rolling Stone Magazine named it one of the 500 greatest albums of all time (along with Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin IV and Physical Graffiti) — I’d put it in my top 20.

Here are my favorite tracks off Houses of the Holy.  Crank up that volume, sit back, and enjoy.

Led Zeppelin “The Song Remains the Same”

Led Zeppelin “Dancing Days”

Led Zeppelin “No Quarter”

Led Zeppelin “The Ocean”
