Ed Sheeran is an interesting case for me. I always knew that he was incredibly talented, but it took me awhile to get over his connection to the world of Teen Pop music. That said, how can I blame the guy for wanting to write songs for a group like One Direction? I can only imagine how lucrative that decision was. His own sound is more in the vein of what I tend to like – acoustic, intimate, dramatic, and with interesting and well-thought-out lyrics.
So, check out his new track, “I See Fire”, an original written for the upcoming Hobbit sequel, The Desolation of Smaug. Sheeran produced and played every instrument (other than the cello line) on the hauntingly beautiful new track himself. I’ve admittedly already listened to it about 10 times today. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
