The concept behind the A.V. Club Undercover series is super fun. I just can’t get into the covers I’ve listened to so far. I think that in most cases, covers are better when done by a band with an at least semi-similar sound…

Not the first time an Otis Redding has been covered by a rock band. The Black Crowes’ totally awesome cover of “Hard to Handle”, their breakout single off Shake Your Money Maker (1990), was so popular that most people probably don’t even know it was originally by Otis Redding. They kept most of the original melody/sound and gave it their own flavor. Success.
