Global Citizen Festival to work against extreme poverty

Today, September 29th, 60,000 individual change-makers and top artists including the Foo Fighters, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Band of Horses, K’Naan, gather for the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park. It’s an important event put on by the The Global Poverty Project, a great organization that uses education, media, communications to work against extreme poverty. Event-goer hopefuls couldn’t buy tickets; instead, they used social media to spread the word about the project,  simultaneously doing good and entering themselves in the contest for tickets. I can’t think of another time I’ve seen this kind of contest, and while I’m bummed out that I wasn’t a winner, I’m really happy to see all the good that has come from this. It’s an example of the power of music and the power of social media today. Should be an incredible show.
